Flexible
operation
In addition to the variety of input devices supported, the terminal
can operate online or in batch mode for future transfer of collected
data to the host computer.
It's
built-in transaction management allows the user to define prompting,
field names, length, type, and several attributes to customize their
application. This is easily configured through bar code menus or
software utilities running at the host. Time and date stamping is
provided by the unit's built-in real time clock.
The 2 x 16 characters backlit Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) and an
audio buzzer provide feedback and prompting to the operator.
A lithium battery powered CMOS SRAM ensures data retention and a
power-on test and integrated diagnostics deliver superior
reliability.
Extended functionality is obtained from a TTL output signal, which
is used to trigger external devices, including door strikes and
status lights.
The MR320 can be placed on a desktop or mounted on a workbench or
wall to facilitate access.

Connectivity
Communication with the host computer is established through a serial
port. The user can select between a point-to-point connection via
the RS232 connector, and a multi-point network of up to 32 units,
via the RS485/422 connector. The MR320 automatically detects the
port at boot time.
Using serial multi-port boards, a host can connect a multi-point
network of up to 256 terminals.
Input
devices
The MR320 incorporates a decoder capable of reading all commonly
used bar code symbologies, including Code 39, Interleave 2 of 5,
Standard 2 of 5, Code 93, Code 128, Code 11, MSI, Codabar, EAN-8/11
and UPC-A/E.
The front port of the terminal accepts a PC AT compatible keyboard,
numeric keypad, magnetic stripe reader, and bar code wand or slot
reader.
Furthermore, an additional port located in the back panel can
connect to a wand, CCD, laser scanner or bar code slot reader.
